Empower Community Service Society is a volunteer-driven nonprofit organization based in Surrey, British Columbia. We support newcomers, youth, families, seniors, and underserved communities through food security initiatives, mentorship, education, cultural connection, and community engagement programs.
Most of our programs are open to everyone. Some initiatives may be designed specifically for newcomers, students, youth, women, seniors, or families based on community needs.
You can volunteer in community events, food distribution programs, mentorship initiatives, educational programs, fundraising activities, and administrative support. No prior experience is required—just a willingness to contribute and make a difference.
Many of our community programs are offered free of charge thanks to the support of volunteers, community partners, donors, and sponsors. Some specialized programs may have a small fee to cover materials or operational costs.
Registration details are available on our website, social media channels, or through direct contact with our team. Some programs may require advance registration due to limited capacity.
Professionals, community leaders, business owners, and experienced individuals can apply through our SettleSmart Mentorship Program. Mentors provide guidance, encouragement, networking opportunities, and practical advice to newcomers and community members.
Absolutely. We welcome partnerships with businesses, educational institutions, nonprofits, community organizations, government agencies, and sponsors who share our vision of building stronger and more inclusive communities.
Donations help support food security initiatives, mentorship programs, educational activities, youth development, community events, and operational requirements that allow us to continue serving the community effectively.
As policies evolve, donation receipting will follow applicable regulations and organizational status. Please contact our team for current donation and receipting information.
Most Empower programs are delivered in Surrey and across the Lower Mainland. We also collaborate with partners throughout British Columbia to expand community impact.

Yes. Empower is largely powered by dedicated volunteers, community leaders, professionals, educators, and partners who contribute their time, skills, and expertise to support community initiatives.
Empower serves diverse communities across British Columbia, including newcomers, students, youth, women, seniors, families, and individuals facing social, economic, or community integration challenges.
Empower combines practical support with long-term empowerment. Our programs focus not only on immediate needs such as food security and settlement support, but also on mentorship, education, leadership development, and community connection that help individuals thrive independently.
